Hello Brownsville Families!
So I have waited a while to make a post with any sort of updates and what is the PTSA Executive Board doing during this time because frankly, I am inundated daily with emails from every which way which basically starts the same ...This is all new territory to us.... and I just needed to step away, and not think about all the things that have been cancelled in my life during this time- completely personal and I know everyone processes events differently.
I want to be respectful though of everyone and while I'm just hanging out having lazy free days with my kids right now, I know some families want information and want to know that we are still in it with all of you at Brownsville.
The jog-a-thon has been updated to a virtual excercise-a-thon coming up on Saturday, May 2. This event is typically a huge fundraiser for us, it brings in half of our budget for the year.
Yearbooks- you can order them online here. If you wrote a check for a yearbook, it is locked up at the school and wont be deposited until after school is open again. If this causes an issue for you, please email us and we will work with you.
I think that sums up the PTSA events ...of course we are not holding our meetings...I have not yet asked the council if we are still required to hold an on line meeting. I know every other PTSA is in the same position, so I am assuming they are being flexible with meeting requirements.
The PTA conference is being held on line! If you are interested in attending, message us! I will post more information about that early next week as they just announced this. Its a great way to learn all about the PTA and in what ways you can be involved and lead.
Speaking of leading...we will still need to hold executive board elections. I do need a few people to be on the nominating committee and you basically ask around to see who might be interested in being on the board and explaining the duties. We will have some vacant spots as we are only allowed to serve 2 years in one position. Everyone is welcome to nominate themselves! It has been a lot of fun and working alongside Stacey is a blast. So please let me know if you would like to be on the committee and start recruiting or if you are interested in a position. This board is all inclusive and we have made it super easy to change hands, you will have everything you need to be successful in any role.
If you are still reading...thank you!
I hope you are enjoying the days, whatever that may look like for your family. Each family is unique and special and you do what you know is best for the souls and minds of your little ones
The Central Kitsap School district is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation. Schools have been closed for the remainder of the 2019/2020 school year - and we're excited to see students participate in online schooling while we stay home and do our best to keep everyone healthy.
Our Jog-A-Thon Fundraiser page has been updated. Schools were closed before we were able to run this event - but we know many students had already collected money and were looking forward to collecting their prizes. We understand that this is a financially hard time for many, and we do not want anyone to feel like they must make a donation in their childs name to participate in the fun.
You can join us over on Facebook page for the updated Virtual Exercise-a-thon event coming up on May 2, 2020 - we'd love to see how your students participate. You can submit this google form to claim your prize.
