Hello Brownsville Families!
So I have waited a while to make a post with any sort of updates and what is the PTSA Executive Board doing during this time because frankly, I am inundated daily with emails from every which way which basically starts the same ...This is all new territory to us.... and I just needed to step away, and not think about all the things that have been cancelled in my life during this time- completely personal and I know everyone processes events differently.
I want to be respectful though of everyone and while Im just hanging out having lazy free days with my kids right now, I know some families want information and want to know that we are still in it with all of you at Brownsville.
The jog-a-thon will be postponed - you can read all current updates about Jog-a-thon here. There are so many questions and very little answers as the future is uncertain about this school year continuing or not. The Jog-a-thon is a huge fundraiser for us, basically it brings in half of our budget for the year. Without this fundraiser, we will be in a bad spot, budget wise. So, we are thinking of ways to do it virtually....stay tuned for that once we know what the school year looks like.
Yearbooks- you can order them online here. If you wrote a check for a yearbook, it is locked up at the school and wont be deposited until after school is open again. If this causes an issue for you, please email us and we will work with you. We're collecting photos of Brownsville students at home during the school closure. You can submit any photos of your students you would like included here. All photos must be submitted before April 17th.
I think that sums up the PTSA events ...of course we are not holding our meetings...I have not yet asked the council if we are still required to hold an on line meeting. I know every other PTSA is in the same position, so I am assuming they are being flexible with meeting requirements.
The PTA conference is being held on line! If you are interested in attending, message us! I will post more information about that early next week as they just announced this. Its a great way to learn all about the PTA and in what ways you can be involved and lead.
Speaking of leading...we will still need to hold executive board elections. I do need a few people to be on the nominating committee and you basically ask around to see who might be interested in being on the board and explaining the duties. We will have some vacant spots as we are only allowed to serve 2 years in one position. I will not be running for a position, so that is for sure one vacant spot, but anyone is more than welcome to nominate themselves!! It has been a lot of fun and working alongside Stacey is a blast. So please let me know if you would like to be on the committee and start recruiting or if you are interested in a position. This board is all inclusive and we have made it super easy to change hands, you will have everything you need to be successful in any role.
If you are still reading...thank you!
I hope you are enjoying the days, whatever that may look like for your family. Each family is unique and special and you do what you know is best for the souls and minds of your little ones
The Central Kitsap School district is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation. As of now our schools remain open but all before & after school activities and sports have been put on hold for the month of March. You can check for their latest updates and news here.
Our annual Jog-A-Thon Fundraiser is coming up on March 17! We've got tons of information available on the event page. One of the biggest changes this year is that we'll be able to collect donations online - and you can create your very own supporter page. These pages can easily be shared over Facebook, Instagram and email with your friends and family.
We can't wait to see how this works in action and we hope you're excited about this option too!
